1824
The Market for Corn and other food items moved to the Corn Exchange when it opened.
1870
Work started on the Larger Market Canopy and on Saturday 6 August at 7.30am it collapsed.
1875
Larger Market Canopy was finally completed in November.
1924
Fish Market Canopy was built with re-paving and artificial light provided in 1927.
1958
Major alterations were made to the Larger Market Canopy, glass skylights were removed, electric lighting installed and cobbled floor replaced.
1972
The former Indoor Market Hall was opened.
